Botafumeiro in Barcelona definitely knows how to deliver when it comes to seafood. The quality is good, and the variety on the platter is impressive. The grilled lobster, prawns, and clams were fresh and nicely cooked, and the fish dish was simple but well-seasoned. The grilled meat was juicy with a rich crust, good enough to please any carnivore. No complaints about the food itself, just the price tag that comes with it. The service was probably the highlight, super friendly and very attentive, even with the place being full. But that’s also part of the problem: it’s always packed, and you feel it. Tables are close, it’s noisy, and it doesn’t give that relaxed, special dinner vibe you’d expect at this price level. Honestly, it feels like you’re mostly paying for the name.

Excellent seafood, incredibly fresh and full of flavor. The service was attentive and professional, and the atmosphere was elegant and welcoming. Prices are on the higher side, but the quality of the food and overall experience make it worth it. Highly recommended, and I’ll definitely be back.

Excellent service and generally good food there. Had octopus, calamari and paella there. The paella is one of the best I’ve ever had - full of flavour but not filled with unnecessary fancy ingredients. The calamari is nice as well - not too oily and the sauce is excellent. I personally do not like the texture of the octopus much but ChatGPT actually said it’s one of the most authentic way to cook octopus to this texture and it’s difficult to make it to this perfection - it’s just a personal taste, I believe. I have always loved chewy octopus from Japan and perhaps this restaurant opens another world to me for octopus and how it should be in Spain. Haven’t tried the sea cucumber coz I believe no one can cook sea cucumber better than Cantonese 🤭 Drinks are on the pricy side but after all it’s how restaurants make money to pay their bills. One thing I don’t personally like is the ambient - lights are kind of too dim and the menu are in printed in small words - making it extremely difficult for me to read 😛. Guess I should blame my poor eyesight but I do see other customers having difficulties doing so too. Spent like £120 for a dinner for 2 - it definitely worths. Will be back next time for other dishes when I’m next in Barcelona.

The appetizers were amazing and very delicious. The fish soup was incredible, and the seafood croquettes were very tasty. The dessert was absolutely fantastic. However, I was disappointed with the main fish dish — it had a strong fishy smell that made it impossible for me to eat even one bite. The service was excellent, but unfortunately the main fish dish did not meet my expectations.

Botafumeiro is a truly iconic seafood restaurant that delivers a classic, elegant dining experience. The atmosphere feels timeless and refined, with traditional decor and a touch of old-world charm that immediately sets the tone for a special meal. The highlight is undoubtedly the seafood. Everything is exceptionally fresh and well-handled, from oysters and crab to grilled fish. The seafood platter stands out in particular, showcasing natural sweetness and excellent quality. Cooking is precise, allowing the ingredients to shine without being overcomplicated. Service is professional and well-trained. Staff are knowledgeable about both the menu and wine list, and they offer helpful recommendations that enhance the overall dining experience. While the pricing is on the higher side, it reflects the quality of ingredients and the overall experience. It’s best suited for special occasions or a memorable dining treat.
