Stopped by this seafood stand inside Grand Central Market after seeing their bright neon sign — but unfortunately, it was a letdown. I ordered the uni (sea urchin), and it just wasn’t fresh. The flavor was flat and lacked sweetness. They simply opened the shells, placed them on ice, and handed over a lemon wedge — that’s it. For the price they charge, it really didn’t feel worth it.
Before coming to LA, we looked up food places to visit in LA on YouTube. Grand Central Market was one to keep popping up. We decided to try some of shops that were open. We got there kinda late, so a few were closed already. We tried Broad Street Oyster Company as one of our meals. The Sea Urchin was highlighted, but that's out of my wheelhouse. That's an acquired taste i have not developed. Oyster Rockefeller is one of our go to favorites. The young lady who took my order was very nice and pleasant. We ordered the ½ dozen. The presentation was awesome, especially in the middle of a busy mkt. The size of the oyster were a bit underwhelming, but if they were west coast oyster. They tend to be smaller than east coast. They were good nevertheless. I did see a delightful looking bloody Mary on display. We will give them another try.
I got the lobster roll and the coleslaw. They were both a bit lacking in flavor, although the lobster was fine. However, they gave me a lemon wedge with a hair on it. I didn't say anything and just put it aside on a napkin. Then when they came to ask how everything was, I showed them and they said sorry but just left it there sitting in front of me. Very strange. I would just recommend taking the item from the customer and giving them a new one.
Had lobster roll and hotdog with caviar. Food was great! They dont serve water though, you have to buy the expensive “death water” in a can if you want some water (lol what) Overall enjoy it, would come back
We loved it when we visited for the first time. But for the second visit, the lobster roll got smaller so I felt a bit disappointed. Ordered fried seafood platter but got fries instead…lol. Couldn’t take a good picture with it so couldn’t leave a good review.
