This was my first time back in a few years and there were many new pieces on display. It's a wonderful museum. Much of the art might not appeal to everyone, but there was quite a variety. I went on a weekday at opening, hoping for fewer people, and there was still a crowd but not uncomfortable.
Recommend seeing the Frida Kahlo exhibit~ It was my first time here and it was worth the while. Spent about 2 hours in here 😆 definitely not the type of Museum you can rush through! Lots of beautiful art work especially Monet.
I absolutely love MoMA, I could easily spend the whole day here and still not feel like it’s enough. The collection is incredible, and every floor has something iconic. Some tip here, get there early and line up before they open, then go straight to Van Gogh’s The Starry Night first while it’s still less crowded. However, in general it didn’t feel too busy, which made the visit even more enjoyable. If you’re short on time, here’s my must-see list: • Yves Klein’s Blue Monochrome (Gallery 405) • Van Gogh’s The Starry Night & Olive Trees (Gallery 501) • Henri Matisse’s The Dance (Gallery 506) • Andy Warhol’s Campbell’s Soup Cans (Gallery 412) • Picasso’s Les Demoiselles d’Avignon (Gallery 502) • Picasso’s Girl Before a Mirror (Gallery 517) • Picasso’s Three Musicians (Gallery 513) • Klimt’s The Park & Hope II (Floor 5) • Dalí’s The Persistence of Memory (Gallery 517) • Frida Kahlo’s Fulang-Chang and I & Self-Portrait (Galleries 517 & 521) • Monet’s Water Lilies & Agapanthus (Gallery 515)
It’s a great museum. With a vast collection and lots of incredible temporary exhibitions. All levels of the museum have great artworks on display. And the additional temporary exhibitions makes it even more special. One of the great exhibitions at the moment is “Frida & Diego”. Which is one of the few times that their art works are shown together. And the way it is set up is just amazing. The museum shop has so much to offer that any can find one or more items they like. This museum is a true gem. And you need quite some hours to visit it properly. Hint. Buy tickets in advance. Because there are long lines.
This is one of the most spectacular museums for artwork in the world dating Van Gogh onwards. Besides the artists famous painting Starry Night, there are innumerable famous paintings and sculpture there. They have two good cafes also. When you are in New York this and the Metropolitan Museum are not to be missed for art enthusiasts.
